Research Editor, RedLightPanelIndexEthan Miller is the research editor of RedLightPanelIndex. He is an electrical engineer who has been researching and using red light therapy devices since around 2020. His focus is the hardware: which wavelengths a panel really emits, how its irradiance figure was measured and at what distance, LED and driver design, flicker, EMF and fan noise.

Instruments he works with
Ethan owns and uses the instruments that panel spec sheets are built on, and knows how each figure is supposed to be measured:
- Spectrometer
- EMF meter
- Flicker meter
- Sound level meter
The figures in the database are not his bench readings. They come from manufacturers and from named third parties, each labeled with its source and method, as the methodology sets out. His role is to check that a figure is stated in a way that can be compared, and to catch the ones that are not.
Devices he has used hands-on
- PlatinumLED (Pro series)
- Hooga (Pro series)
- Mito Red Light (X series)
- Rouge G4
- RLT Home Compact
- Joovv Solo
- BlockBlueLight panel
- Helio Cure Glow
- Nuronic 1070 helmet
- Rouge handheld
- CurrentBody LED face mask
What he is not
Ethan is not a doctor or a medical professional. Health statements on this site are limited to what published trials found, each with a PubMed ID that is verified before a page can publish, and the evidence pages say plainly where the evidence is weak or missing. For a medical question, ask a clinician.

Veterinary light therapy is a clinic practice, and no home-panel pet trial is in the register. What that means, plus the eye and heat cautions.

Red Light Therapy for Kids and Teens: Safety First
No trial has tested home red light panels in children, so no safe dose exists. What that means, the eye and heat cautions, and what to ask a pediatrician.

One sham-controlled trial of a 532nm green laser reported cellulite stage improvement. What it measured, what it did not, and what it means for a home panel.

Lux weights light by eye sensitivity, mW/cm2 counts power. Worked examples show why near-infrared reads near zero in lux and why the units do not convert.
